Infrared Fred:
The visible image was taken with a Pulnix CCD camera. The image was grabbed with a VideoPix frame grabber attached to a Sparc2 and converted to a gif file using IDL. Resolution on the orginal image was 241 x 327 pixels and was scaled to 155 x 210 with IDL 's congrid function. The image is black and white, with the red temperature scale representing intensity in the visible band.
The infrared image was taken with an Amber Engineering InSb camera sensitive in the 3-5 micron wavelength range, the so-called Mid-wave IR or MWIR. The image was grabbed with an SDV digital frame grabber attached to a Sparc2 and converted to a gif file using IDL. The image is black and white, with the red temperature scale representing intensity in the MWIR band.
